How do I get married at Copenhagen City Hall?
Documentation requirements
The following documents – if relevant to you – must be attached along with the notice of marriage. If you are in doubt about what to send please forward all the documents that you might have and we will contact you if further is required. All documents must be approved before you will be considered for marriage:
Personal identification:
- Copy of the picture page of your valid passport
- Residence permit if you are not a Danish citizen
- Valid visa or proof of entry of arrival in Denmark or Schengen
Issued personal certificates:
- Certificate of marital status
The certificate of marital status must be less than four months old showing your present place of residence and must state:
- Name
- Date of birth
- Place of birth
- Current address
- Citizenship
- Marital status
Divorcee decree
If you and/or your future spouse are divorcees you must attach only your latest issued divorce decree(s) fulfilling following requirements:
- Complete, dated and authorial signed divorce decree.
- The document must state that the divorce has not been and cannot be appealed to a higher court meaning that the parties are free to remarry.
Please note that we require legalization of any divorce decrees and death certificates issued in a number of countries. You will be contacted if necessary.
The divorce decree(s) must be submitted in two versions: the original version and a translated version. The translation must be made by an authorized translator. If issued in Danish, English or German a translated version is not needed.

- Действующие паспорта
- Вид на жительство, если вы проживаете на территории другого государства Шенгенскую визу или другой документ, разрешающий въезд на территорию стран Шенгенского соглашения (в случае необходимости)
- Справку о семейном положении
- Документ, подтверждающий прекращение предыдущего брака:
-- свидетельство о расторжении брака в случае, если лицо (лица) состояло (состояли) в браке ранее;
-- свидетельство о смерти в случае смерти супруга/супруги

Please notice that the Wedding Office (Bryllupskontoret) periodically can be very busy. Currently you can expect 3 to 4 weeks response time from you filling out the notice of marriage till you will hear from us.
