I do not know where you▓ve got your data from, but the number I mentioned can be found in many German sources.

Russisch (mit 5 Mio. Sprechern in Deutschland), Türkisch (2 Mio.), Polnisch (2 Mio.) und Spanisch werden hauptsächlich von in Deutschland lebenden Ausländern, von im Ausland geborenen deutschen Staatsbürgern sowie deren Familienangehörigen gesprochen, werden jedoch auch außerhalb der Pflichtschulzeit an Schulen unterrichtet. (Die Zahlen in Klammern sind Schätzungen, da hierzu keine genauen Zahlen existieren √ u.a. auf Grund der Heterogenität der betr. Bevölkerungsgruppen.)

You have to distinguish between foreigners with German citizenship and foreigners without German citizenship. There are only about 2 M. Turks and about 2 M. Russian Germans in Germany.

My ancestors settled in Russia only after they had got many privileges from the Russian Tzar. It was Russia, that needed Germans. My ancestors could choose between Russia and America, and Russian Tzars promised them a cultural autonomy and many privileges, because Russia needed European settlers to learn from them.

Not only Germany, but all Europe may become a challenge for the USA. That is why European nations have to unite an forfeit their independence and give away their competences to European institutions. Otherwise they may challenge each other, though this challenge has nothing to do with a military threat.
