The University of Konstanz was founded in southern Germany as a prototype for a modern and compact campus university.
The University of Konstanz, founded in 1966, is a new educational institution. The University has already earned a recognizable characteristic image: a creative approach to providing information, the use of innovative technologies, deep research practice.
More than 10,000 people actively exploring the natural and human Sciences, political science, law. More than 100 program courses have been developed for interdisciplinary areas. International-level programmes, which occupy leading positions in the world rankings, are also being put into practice. Many courses are conducted in English.
Historical fact
1965-th year in the world, among other things, was marked by the fact that the theorists in the field of pedagogics proposed a new educational concept, which is based on self-government. Activity of educational institution began in 1966. The University is located in a part of the new hotel, which opened in the building of the Dominican monastery. The opening was attended by Professor David Daube of Oxford University.
Today, this University belongs to the best institutions in Germany, occupies a leading position in the rating of "50 universities under 50 years" compiled by QS. He ranks 8th among the leading European universities. And it is only beginning of history of Konstanz University.
